Importance of data monitoring and dashboard

Harbor Compliance, a SaaS company specializing in regulatory compliance, recognized the importance of making data more accessible and actionable. To address this need, the team approached Acho for assistance in implementing data monitoring and dashboard solutions for their CRM. The significance of data monitoring and dashboards for businesses cannot be overstated, as they offer numerous benefits:

  1. Real-time insights: Data monitoring and dashboards allow organizations to access real-time data, helping them identify trends and patterns, as well as respond to any emerging issues promptly.
  2. Improved decision-making: Data-driven decisions are often more accurate and reliable than those based on intuition. Dashboards present complex data in a visually appealing and easily digestible format, empowering decision-makers with the information they need to make informed choices.
  3. Increased efficiency: By automating the process of data collection and analysis, data monitoring and dashboards save time and resources, allowing employees to focus on more strategic tasks.
  4. Performance tracking: Dashboards make it easy to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics, enabling organizations to measure their progress against goals and adjust strategies as needed.
  5. Customization and flexibility: Dashboards can be tailored to meet the unique needs of different users or departments within an organization, ensuring that everyone has access to relevant and actionable data.
  6. Early warning system: Data monitoring can help organizations detect potential problems or opportunities before they become critical, providing a proactive approach to problem-solving and risk mitigation.

In summary, data monitoring and dashboards are vital tools for organizations seeking to harness the power of data, streamline operations, and drive growth. In the case of Harbor Compliance, by leveraging data from their CRM, they can effectively track and analyze customer interactions, monitor sales performance, enhance collaboration, and make data-driven decisions to achieve their goals. However, a missing bridge between the CRM and the BI tool can create a significant gap in the flow of information, hindering efficient decision-making.

Challenge

Harbor Compliance faced the challenge of connecting their CRM to their BI tool. They needed a solution to extract, load, transform, and export data in real-time while maintaining data integrity and minimizing manual intervention. The missing component in this scenario was a data warehouse capable of handling the ELT process and seamlessly integrating with the BI tool. The data warehouse must host all the data from the CRM and accommodate future data from any additional sources while being stable, scalable, and fast.

Data Pipeline

To address this challenge, Harbor Compliance turned to Acho. With Acho, they were able to easily create a custom data pipeline that connected their CRM to the BI tool, without requiring extensive coding or technical knowledge.

The first step in the process was to extract the data from the CRM and load the data to Acho. Acho provided a straightforward way to connect to the CRM by simply finishing the OAuth process, allowing Harbor Compliance to retrieve the required data with ease. With the connection established, data extraction became a simple and reliable process. Furthermore, they were able to set up a scheduler on the connection so they have the real-time data for the BI tool later on.

After extracting data from the CRM, it required transformation into a format compatible with the BI tool. Acho made this process seamless with its powerful no-code data transformation capabilities within the Acho Project. With ease, Harbor Compliance manipulated, cleansed and tailored the data to meet their specific requirements without external support. Furthermore, this step was designed to be both future-proof and easily maintainable. The nature of BI data typically evolves, enabling businesses to continually refine their reports for ongoing improvement. Displayed below is a screenshot of the pipeline editor. This versatile orchestration tool accommodates future data requirements, as users can conveniently add or modify actions whenever necessary.

With the data successfully extracted and transformed, the final step was to load it into the BI tool. Harbor Compliance also had the option to create a dashboard within the Acho App Builder if they didn't already have one. The export process occurred in Acho Workflow, a drag-and-drop pipeline tool that managed the process from resource to project to destination. They had the ability to set up schedulers for each process, ensuring they always had access to the latest data. By setting their BI tool as the destination, data flowed into the BI tool according to the predetermined schedule.

Result

Harbor Compliance successfully bridged the gap between their CRM and BI tool by creating a data pipeline with Acho. This enabled them to access real-time data about their leads, empowering them to make informed decisions based on accurate and up-to-date information. The streamlined process also saved time and reduced the potential for errors, contributing to an overall improvement in their data management strategy.

By utilizing Acho as their data warehouse, Harbor Compliance now has complete control over their data. They no longer need to be concerned about data backups or vendor lock-in. To date, they have also connected their Customer Service software to Acho and built comprehensive dashboards for it. As a result, Harbor Compliance has unlocked the full potential of its customer data, which in turn, drives better decision-making and enhances their overall business strategy.
