Input masks assure data types. On a web application where users fill a form, you implement input masks on every field so when user types in he/she types correctly.
Database management systems provide data types selection which restrict incorrect type of entry for example inputting letters in cell number fields. Moreover, in IDEs such as Visual Studio, the text boxes can be formatted to a specific input format.
Input masks are used on all software types either desktop or online. If a field in a form has to input the mobile phone number from the user we'll use a "cell number" input mask that will restrict alphabets and write the integers in cell number format.
